Del Potro, Raonic dominate this week’s indoor tournaments
World #7 Juan Martin Del Potro dominated the field in the ABN AMRO World Indoor Tournament dispatching Julien Benneteau 7-6, 6-3 in the finals in Rotterdam. In San Jose, CA, 6’5″ Milos Raonic won his 3rd straight SAP Open title over journeyman Tommy Haas 6-4, 6-3 with serves regularly topping 140 mph. One has to think that the indoor courts really suit the big men, who have settled conditions in which to power their huge serves. Del Potro’s opponents didn’t have a chance with his perfect ball placement on serve and Raonic simply blew his competition off the court.
In Sao Paolo, Rafael Nadal took the Brasil Open by defeating David Nalbandian 6-2, 6-3. Next week the action heads to Memphis, Marseille and Buenos Aires.
