Federer bounced out of Rotterdam
Number 1 seed and defending champion Roger Federer was bounced out of the ABN AMRO World Indoor tournament, falling to a surprisingly resilient Julien Benneteau 6-3, 6-4 in last night’s quarterfinals. The Swiss, who had not dropped serve so far in the tournament, had trouble with his first serve throughout the match and Benneteau was able to take advantage of this weakness. On the other side of the draw, Juan Martin Del Potro continued his blistering run to the finals with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. The hard indoor courts in Rotterdam have proved to be ideal conditions for the 6’6″ Argentine’s power game, as he looks to be the favorite heading into the final against the winner of today’s other semi-final between Benneteau and Gilles Simon, which will be broadcast live on Tennis Channel at 1:30 pm EST.
