Federer dispatches Davydenko, Tomic next
17 time grand slam winner Roger Federer easily dispatched a resurgent Nikolay Davydenko 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 to reach the 3rd round against Bernard Tomic Saturday. Tomic has a lot of confidence going into the match, having won his first 10 matches this year, including a victory over Novak Djokovic at the Hopman Cup exhibition. There are some other intriguing match-ups as we near the end of the tournament’s first week, including French compatriots Gael Monfils facing Gilles Simon, Janko Tipsarevic and Julien Benneteau, and Nicolas Almagro taking on Jerzy Janowicz after the latter’s epic meltdown yesterday.
